EDUCATION Chair

Allie currently works as the Fetal Health Center Neonatal Program Coordinator at Children’s Mercy (CM), Kansas City. She completed her associates degree at MCC-Penn Valley in 2010, her bachelor’s degree at the University of Central Missouri in 2015, and master’s degree in nursing education at the University of Central Missouri in 2017.

Allie has been born and raised at Children’s Mercy, Kansas City starting as a nurse tech in 2009. After graduation she began her nursing career in the PICU in 2010, where she quickly realized her passion was caring for critically ill newborns and their families. In 2011 she continued that drive in the NICU. In 2016, she transitioned to the role of Neonatal Program Coordinator in the Fetal Health Center (FHC). It was here that Allie found her true calling and purpose in nursing.  This position has been a perfect mix of her neonatal experience, family counselling skills, and communication techniques, as she often needs to bridge the gap between MFM and neonatal care.

Throughout her nursing career, Allie has also served as a PRN clinical instructor for nursing students within multiple units at CM, including NNP students in the FHC. During her time at the bedside she was often a preceptor, and was one of the original nurses in the mentoring group for the Nurse Residency Program.

During her time in the FHC, Allie has used her passion for the patient experience, from fetal surgery to palliative care, to help educate new staff members. She views her role in the patient journey as an incredible privilege, and wants to help empower other nurses within fetal therapy to do the same and help make improvements that better patient care. As a lifelong learner herself, she excited for where the field of fetal therapy is headed and has thoroughly enjoyed the connections she has made with other nurses within the field thus far and looks forward to learning from each other.
